Beware; you may fall in love forever!
A unique landscape of multicolored saltpans, ancient windmills and extensive archaeology!
This is an intense and emotional tour.
Beginning at the Stagnone Natural Reserve: as well as the impact of the landscape which fascinates ALL visitors, we learn how an ancient windmill worked, comprehend the cycle and production of the Marine Salt of Trapani; how it was and still is today, collected. We will bask in the many colours of the saltpans, remaining identical as they were centuries ago.
Embarking on a small boat, we reach the Island of Mozia, an impressive and historically powerful city once occupied by the Carthaginians, also called Punics, and today a small naturalistic and archaeological paradise. We will walk around the island and behold what archaeologists have brought to light so far. Visiting the collection of remains in the Withaker Museum: this island is considered one of the best places in the world where to learn about the Carthaginians.
To learn more about this ancient Mediterranean population – to which the famous General Hannibal belonged – we can extend the tour to the “Punic ship” at the Anselmi Museum, the best-preserved Punic boat in the world.
After a short walk in Marsala, we end the tour learning about the most important ancient remains and modern attractions that this historical city has to offer.
